Voted the Most Ineffective Transgendered Support Group in Canada.

Monday, August 31st, 2015

Well it happened again, the Second Annual meeting of the 3 Originating Presidents of Gender Mosaic (Spanning 7 years) met on August 28 2015 at Monkeys Joes in Ottawa.

We talked, ate, had a white wine toast, reminisced old friends, and just caught up on each others current lives.

We spent some time discussing what has happened to Gender Mosaic and their was some discussion of trying to go back and help.

Wisely this was dismissed and a majority vote was reached, Gender Mosaic is the most Ineffective Transgendered Support Group in Canada.

As a result Gender Mosaic and the current Executive have been issued a Certificate by us to that effect.

Starting with Kelly’s illegal motion to have my Life Membership removed.

February 2010

Item 1-No outstanding expenditures.

Item 2-All members of the Executive were re-acclaimed.

Item 3-Kelly Ann put a motion to have Judy removed as a lifetime member and a vote of Yea was passed by the Executive.

Followed by the Amanda/Sophips only way out while reaping $133,000.00 in profit from their Spring Fling event, to declare all Life memberships in-valid but those that one could keep them for 3 months ..What’s that about ?

“Lifetime memberships.”
“Lifetime memberships never existed in the GM bylaws.”
“Special memberships are clearly defined as people who cannot afford to pay a membership.”
Previous executive did not have authority to issue lifetime memberships. The membership therefore concludes that lifetime memberships never existed (The membership never concluded and was not permitted to even vote) and as such the benefits of supposed lifetime memberships are null and void.”
The benefits of supposed lifetime memberships will therefore expire at the end of 2013.”
“The membership has the option to propose amendments to bylaws to create lifetime memberships or other modifications at any future general meeting.”
This item is not an item to be voted upon.”

The Membership where not permitted to vote and it was an edict of the Executive.

This is a group without direction and the present leadership ? of Janne Charbonneau, Kay Lockhart and Madeleine Grant do nothing to correct the failings of the former Executive.

A group going nowhere without direction or purpose, I have been ask when I will stop the information trial on GM the answer is simple….when they do the right thing.

Dr. Barwin is retiring!

Sunday, June 22nd, 2014

Dr. B. Norman Barwin, one of the Ottawa trans community’s most cherished medical resource people, is retiring officially this summer. His office will close forever at the end of the regular practice day on August 29, 2014.

Dr. Barwin has guided hundreds of Ottawa and area transsexuals through their biochemical transitions over the past several decades and has received the highest awards for service our community can bestow. He retires after 50 years of medical practice as a Gynecologist and Endocrinologist.

All of us at Gender Freedom wish Dr. Barwin all the best in a long, happy and active retirement. We look forward to seeing him on the bike paths and the cross country ski trails!

The Executive of Gender Mosaic is Happiest Breaking the Bylaws of the group

During the last General meeting a member pointed out an error in operations.

From the Gender Mosaic Web site:

Record of decision
Gender Mosaic General Meeting
November 10, 2012
The President called the meeting to order at 19:35

Quorum in attendance. (22 members)

Updating of Gender Mosaic by-laws.

Sophia Cassivi opened the General Meeting at 19:35.

Sophy Thomas immediately declared a point of order withholding the unanimous consent that the Executive had requested of GM members in order to hold a meeting to update by-laws with 25 days notice as opposed to the 35 days stipulated in the by-laws.

Discussion ensued.

As by-laws committee chair, Janne Charbonneau suggested as an option to the members that the General Meeting itself was indeed within the 14 day required notice period and that the members could vote whether or not to proceed with the meeting as scheduled.

Sophy Thomas interjeeted and threatened legal action against Gender Mosaic if the assembly proceeded thus.

Discussion ensued.

In keeping with the original notice sent to all members 25 days earlier, the President suggested to accept the withholding of unanimous consent by even a single person and postpone the item to the next General Meeting.

Motion to adjourn by Samantha Perrin. Seconded by Linda Slater.
Meeting adjourned at 20:30

NOTE: The Gender Mosaic Executive cannot wait for approval of the members to change the Bylaws and has already modified Article 2 changing the name from Gender Mosaic  to Gender Mosaic  Incorporated without the members consent .

This is what they used to read:

Article 2 Name of the Organization

2.1 The name of the organization shall be “Gender Mosaic”, herein after referred to as GM.

2.2 Gender Mosaic shall be a non-profit organization

This is what they read now:

Article 2 Name of the Organization

2.1 The legal name of the organization shall be Gender Mosaic Inc. / Mosaïque de Genres Inc., commonly referred to as GM, MG, Gender Mosaic or Mosaïque de Genres.

2.2 Gender Mosaic shall be a provincially incorporated not for profit corporation.

The original Bylaws had a Header at the top showing the date the bylaws where accepted by all the members; that has been removed as well.

I wonder what other things have been changed?  I hold all the original information from the GM website and the bylaws as presented on the Gender Mosaic website have definitely been Altered & Tampered With! If the Membership approved this,  I would like them to show in the record when the membership approved this change to the bylaws.

How can the membership Trust the Executive to update the groups Bylaws when they don’t know what they are and constantly ignore them when the fancy strikes them, or change them in a very back-door way and and hope no one notices?

I have been a victim of Gender Mosaic’s uncontrollable Executive.

Money Hungry, Power Mad, and headed for self destruction.

The current Executive should all be replaced with Rats because there are some things even Rats won’t do and this Executive seems to think it is above the Law.

With the 25 years of  Help and Support in the balance, the GM Exec is willing to toss it all out to ensure that they get their “Cut”.

So Sad.

Transgender Rights Bill back in Commons

Thursday, April 12th, 2012

Now reintroduced in the House of Commons as Bill C-279, the long-awaited, long-lamented private member’s bill that would enshrine gender identity and gender expression in the Canadian Human Rights Act has passed second reading.

The bill, which was originally introduced by the now-retired BC MP Bill Siksay, is now being championed by NDP MP Randall Garrison. This is the fourth time the bill has been before the Commons. Last time, it was officially passed by the House following Third Reading and was before the Senate when Parliament was dissolved in preparation for the 2011 federal election.

Curiously – perhaps predictably – the Bill has been generating an uncharacteristically high level of media interest this week as a coattail issue associated with the recent uproar over transgender Miss Universe contestant Jenna Talackova. She was at first disqualified by the Miss Universe Pageant when she revealed that she was not ‘born a woman’. She was later reinstated as a contestant after Pageant owner Donald Trump overrode Pageant management’s original decision.

New News on Bill C-389, The Greatest bill in Human History.

Saturday, August 20th, 2011

Gender Freedom

By Kristy Kirkup, Parliamentary Bureau

In the upcoming session of Parliament, the NDP will move to re-introduce a bill to amend the Canadian Human Rights Act to protect transgendered or transsexual citizens.

Bill C-389 made it all the way to the Senate before the election killed the bill. The legislation will be unrolled again by the NDP’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and transsexual (LGBTT) critic Randall Garrison.

The bill, which was originally introduced by former New Democrat MP Bill Siksay, is designed to outlaw discrimination based on gender identity or gender expression. It also calls for the Criminal Code to denounce hate crimes.

MPs from all parties, including several Tories, stood by the legislation which passed third reading in February by a 143-135 vote.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper and most of the Conservative caucus voted against the bill, but six Tories voted in favour, including cabinet ministers John Baird and James Moore. The bill was likely headed for defeat in the unelected Senate.

Garrison said the NDP wants to see LGBTT issues become more of a priority in the House of Commons, but the party is not calling for a special ministry or minister to handle this file.

The B.C. MP also clarified comments made earlier this week by his NDP colleague, Dany Morin.

Morin had told a French radio station that Alberta is less open about LGBTT issues than la belle province. Garrison said this view is not shared by the party and communities need to be evaluated on a case by case basis.
